Your “no shit” news of the day: Glenn Beck is an idiot.

NIN’s “Pretty Hate Machine” turned 20 years old. I’m not even going to pretend like I wasn’t three when it came out. I didn’t catch on until later.

Twittergate

Horizon Realty, a Chicago-based management company, is suing one of their tenants over a single tweet (god, how I would love to subtract that term from the lexicon) she posted about her apartment.

The tenant, Amanda Bonnen, tweeted that her apartment was “moldy.” Horizon, in their hilarious official complaint, maintains that this tweet has caused the company to be “greatly injured in its reputation.”

Bonnen has just 20 followers on her Twitter account. This is beyond ridiculous.

There is no way that there will be judgment in favor of the plaintiff. How can they prove that a Twitterer with 20 followers can damage their reputation? OK, John Mayer tweets something and all of his 1.8 million followers read it? Sure, defamation and damage. Absolutely. But 20 followers? And has Horizon even proven Bonnen’s claim that the apartment was moldy to be false? I bet if you walked into that apartment right now you would find mold. There is no reason anyone would tweet something like that casually unless it were true. Defamation my ass.

This just really riled me up. It could be because I’ve recently dealt with a host of sheisty landlords and supers myself. Oops! Hope I don’t get sued.
